The lifestyle
The foothills are your backyard
Hiking, waterfalls, river paddling, mountain biking, and tennis — much of it minutes from the front door.
Canton sits where metro Atlanta gives way to the Blue Ridge, and the weekends show it.
Hiking
Trails start close to home. Blankets Creek and the Olde Rope Mill trails wind through hardwood forest on the edge of Lake Allatoona, and Sawnee Mountain Preserve near Cumming adds ridge overlooks and family loops. Beyond that, the North Georgia mountains open up — including the approach to the Appalachian Trail at Amicalola.
Waterfalls
Waterfall country begins about an hour north. Amicalola Falls — one of the tallest cascading waterfalls in the Southeast at more than 700 feet — anchors a state park of overlooks and trails. Closer in, you can paddle from Olde Rope Mill Park to a quiet Lake Allatoona waterfall in about a mile and a half.
Kayaking & paddling
The Etowah River runs right through Canton. Put in at Etowah River Park for a gentle Class I float — flatwater with the occasional shoal, suitable for novices — or a longer thirteen-mile run down from East Cherokee Drive. Lake Allatoona, at the north end near town, adds 270 miles of shoreline for paddling, fishing, and boating.
Mountain biking
Blankets Creek is a bucket-list ride at your doorstep — around fifteen miles of singletrack in Canton, from an easy family loop to expert jump lines, and one of North Georgia's most popular trail systems. Just south, the Taylor Randahl trails at Olde Rope Mill Park add another fifteen miles of flow.
Tennis & pickleball
You don't have to leave the neighborhood. Towne Mill's own courts put tennis and pickleball a short walk from the front door, with public courts and clubs around Canton and Cherokee County for when you want a change of scenery.
